When using $atom which stores $_SERVER['URI'] there can be some encoding issues if there are special characters.  French accents are an example for special characters. 

• you need to decode them to have its pure text with urldecode()
• if you compare ex. $page['folder_title'] == $atom you need to do urldecode($atom) to have an exact match of the folder if it is in french
